Why does urban furniture have to be ugly as it so often is in so many cities in the world? With a little of imagination, design, technical competence and using natural stone, of course, urban planners can renovate public spaces, creating a new, modern and attractive image of public areas, make them great places for city dwellers to spend their time. Trade statistics of the natural stone industry in India, 2015-2016

The fiscal year in India ends on 31 March and not end of December as in most other countries, that is why annual official statistics have the years 2015-2016. While the export statistics for countries show figures on expected lines, the statistics for imports may give a dramatically different picture next year with the new more liberalised import policy for marble.

In the month of September, 2016 the Indian Government announced a new  policy for the import of marble blocks which has far reaching consequences for the development of the marble industry in India. The new liberalised policy, while still maintaining high import duties, at last made it easy for anyone setting up a factory to import marble blocks.
